Designing Cisco Network Service Architecture (ARCH)

ARCH is a qualifying exam for the Cisco Certified Design Professional CCDP® certification. The ARCH exam will test on material covered under the Designing Cisco Network Service Architectures (ARCH) course. The exam assesses a candidate's understanding of latest developments in network design and technologies. The exam covers topics on network infrastructure, intelligent network services, and converged network solutions.

    Course Objectives:

The following information provides general guidelines for the content likely to be included on the ARCH exam. However, other related topics may also appear on any specific delivery of the exam.

    Design & Modeling

    • Design networks that provide network services and solutions using the Cisco AVVID Framework

    • Design a modular network based on Enterprise Composite Network Model

    • Explain how the following concepts apply to each module of the Enterprise Composite Network Model:

    • performance and scalability; availability; manageability; security; and cost-effectiveness

    • Design modules and/or sub-modules of the Enterprise Composite Network Model to meet defined standards of: performance and scalability; availability; and manageability

    • Define an appropriate Enterprise Network Management Strategy to meet given requirements

    • Define a security strategy that is based on the requirement of each functional area of the Enterprise Composite Network Model

    • Identify the need for high availability from network design requirements

    • Design a network topology to support VoIP

    • Design a network topology to support IP Multicasting

    • Design a wireless LAN network solution that meets IEEE 802.11 standards

    • Identify the need for Virtual Private Networking (VPNs) from network design requirements

    • Design suitable storage networking solutions using Cisco AVVID principles

    Relevant Technologies

    • Select appropriate components; features and protocols at the Campus Infrastructure, Server Farm, and Edge Distribution modules of a campus network design

    • Select appropriate components; features and protocols at the Network Management module of a campus network design

    • Compare and contrast the link characteristics, net protocols application demand characteristics and cost consideration that affect WAN design

    • Select suitable protocols, components and an appropriate topology for the Enterprise WAN

    • Select suitable protocols, components and an appropriate addressing scheme for the Internet Connectivity and eCommerce modules

    • Select the appropriate components and network model to address identified network security threats
