Hardware and Facilities Requirements: Hardware requirements and facilities recommendations for the 2005 Microsoft Certified Partner for Learning Solutions Competency have been updated to ensure Microsoft partners who deliver advanced learning solutions can support the latest course delivery technologies available from Microsoft Learning. Hardware Requirements To ensure a reasonable student experience in the classroom, Microsoft requires a minimum equipment configuration for trainer and student computers used in all training classrooms used to deliver Microsoft courses. However, for your organization to have a competitive advantage we encourage you to provide students with an exceptional training experience by exceeding the minimum recommended hardware requirements included in every Official Microsoft Learning Products or Microsoft Business Solutions courseware setup guide. Student System Requirements Each student attending a public, open enrollment class must be provided one dedicated computer throughout the duration of a Microsoft course or workshop. The student's system must meet at least the requirement of the level specified for the Microsoft course being delivered. Minimum Hardware Requirements by Microsoft Course Level
* Level 1 Hardware Requirements are no longer considered adequate for the Microsoft MLP or MBS courseware classroom and have been removed from the hardware requirements. In instances where legacy Microsoft courses require Level 1 hardware to deliver training the default will automatically be Level 2 hardware. **The Preboot eXecution Environment (“PXE”) and floppy boot using Remote Boot Floppy Generator (“RBFG’) disks are used in current and future classroom builds. All network adapters need to be PXE compliant and Windows 2000 HCL approved to ensure future support. *** ISA bus and supported peripherals are no longer approved. # Level 5.5 is required for Microsoft Business Solutions courses which require more than one Virtual PC to be used simultaneously. For MLP courses the hardware requirements will be specified in the individual course setup guide.Increased Virtual PC performance can be realized by separating the base disks from the differencing disks. Additional Notes: Microsoft courses and workshops require one of these four equipment-configuration levels. If you are purchasing new computers, Microsoft suggests considering a motherboard capable of supporting 4 gig of RAM and a 3.0 gigahertz processor or faster, and considering purchase of RAM in allotments that will allow for future expandability. Microsoft suggests examining disk IO performance technologies for the best current and future host performance. Microsoft would also recommend considering video adapters that support two or more monitors or using more than one video adapter to improve the student experience on courses that require multiple virtual machines. Some Microsoft courses may require additional equipment. The classroom setup guides, provided in the Microsoft trainer kits and on the Microsoft Learning Solutions competency partner Web pages, provide complete configuration requirements for each Microsoft course. Trainer System Requirements Trainer systems must meet at least Level 2 requirements (see text below and Table above):
Facilities and Equipment Please read the following requirements for public training classrooms. Facility Requirements Microsoft requires that any Microsoft Learning Solutions competency partner location offering public, open enrollment classroom instruction on Microsoft courses provides students with access to facilities that meet the following minimum guidelines:
